The two signings deeply needed by Gattuso

In something more than two weeks the January transfer window reopens and AC Milan need to make at least two signings to improve the team.

Gennaro Gattuso for Milan-Bologna has returned to basics, using the 4-3-3 formation that had already been adopted by Vincenzo Montella in the last season and in the beginning of the current one. A tactical set-up that seems to have given more certainties to the players, many times in confusion with the continuous changes of the former coach and not ready to change. With the various 3-5-2 and 3-4-2-1 results and play were missing, not really able to enhance any player. It is no coincidence that among the very few to stand out there was Fabio Borini, recycled in the role of winger and excelling for his spirit of sacrifice. However, considering the qualitative level of the group, more is needed.

Gattuso with the 4-3-3 has deployed players in their ideal roles, without inventing anything and avoiding adaptations that require time. Signs of recovery have been seen, although obviously it is too soon to say that Milan has emerged out of the crisis. It serves continuity of victories, as well as improving physical and mental condition together with the game.

It would not be bad if in January the club decides to make a couple of interventions. Despite Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli repeatedly saying that there are no reinforcements planned for January, in reality there are two types of players that would be very convenient to Gattuso. These are two signings that Montella had already requested at the end of July: a mezzala and an attacking winger.

Jakub Jankto

In the 4-3-3 rossonero a midfielder who can replace Franck Kessié and/or Giacomo Bonaventura would be very useful. It is necessary to find the right profile that can combine good physical strength with good technical skills and insertion. The name of Jakub Jankto of Udinese, 21 years old from the Czech Republic, whose value is around 20-25 million is a top target. His price tag is considerable and perhaps too much for a Milan that at most, in case of interventions, will seek some more economically advantageous opportunities.

Gerard Deulofeu

An interesting idea could be the return of Gerard Deulofeu. Waiting to figure out if Hakan Calhanoglu can play as winger or not, it is clear that on paper the team lacks a player in that role. Borini provides speed and sacrifice, but Milan need more quality in depth. We need someone who can dribble and creates numerical superiority. Deulofeu wants to leave Barcelona in January and maybe Milan can get him again a loan with the right to make the move permanent. He already knows the environment and would not need time to adapt. If it will not be Geri, all fine as long as someone suitable arrives for the 4-3-3 of Gattuso.
