AC Milan are facing with a record number of injuries this season. The Rossoneri players have stayed out on 38 occasions.
Many think that the injury of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the second half of last season may have cost AC Milan the Scudetto that ended in Inter’s hands. The Rossoneri are again fighting for the Serie A title but the injury situation seems even worse this season.
There are currently eight players injured. Alessandro Plizzari, Simon Kjaer, Davide Calabria, Ante Rebic, Rafael Leao, Samu Castillejo, Pietro Pellegri and Olivier Giroud are out with various problem. Practically never coach Stefano Pioli has had the entire squad at his disposal.
Tuttosport reports that AC Milan players have suffered 38 injuries and about 18 of those can be classified as muscular injuries. Too many, definitely too many for a team that focuses on an intense and expensive play.
There are several factors that are taken into consideration at Milanello. However, the major cause of this muscular predisposition of various players to get hurt is believed to be due to the high rhythms that have almost never been sustained in their career. Only a few AC Milan footballers have played at high levels in three competitions.
The club hopes that the situation will improve and AC Milan will be able to keep the same pace in the second half of the season. Meanwhile, only three matches remain until the end of the year. The Rossoneri will face Udinese, Napoli and Empoli.
