Ralf Rangnick may be a great expert of football but he has one big defect that makes him unsuitable to become the new coach of AC Milan.
There is no doubt, AC Milan will try everything to bring Ralf Rangnick in Italy. The Rossoneri and the German coach seem to have a verbal agreement and in recent weeks there have been fresh contacts between Rangnick and Gazidis.
It is still not certain that the former Leipzig coach will join Milan on June, also due to the Coronavirus chaos that is slowing everyone’s plans but Gazidis and Elliot will play their cards.
Many praise Rangnick as a prophet of modern football, even those who indicate him as the heir of Arrigo Sacchi for his football philosophy and technical skills. But there is no lack of defects in the personality and work of the German.
Massimo Marianella, journalist of Sky Sport and an expert of international football, admitted it: “Milan must be careful, Rangnick is a connoisseur of football and a great scout of talents. But he has a big defect, he cracks under pressure“.
In practice, when the stakes are high, Rangnick is unable to live up to it, according to Marianella. His coaching career is a proof of it. Rangnick has always done very well starting from the bottom, re-founding teams. But then he failed to keep up the rhythm to reach the top.
Just look at his experiences ‘halfway’ in charge of Stuttgart, Hannover and Schalke 04. His experience at Schalke ended with his resignation due to a nervous breakdown. A capable man, careful and with modern ideas, but at the same time fragile and unfinished. Gazidis will have to understand well whether to trust him the new Milan project.
