The new AC Milan management starts on the wrong foot immediately suffering defeat on the market for three priority targets.
In a shocking turn of events Gerry Cardinale decided to fire Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara. A revolution has taken place at AC Milan with the club owner creating a new management. Giorgio Furlani, in cooperation with Geoffrey Moncada and Stefano Pioli will take care of the transfers from now on.
However, the new management has started on the wrong foot immediately suffering defeat for three transfer targets. The first is Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans. After Paolo Maldini left, Furlani blocked the signing of Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea. Maldini had closed the purchase of the English midfielder for a fee of €18 million.
Loftus-Cheek is no longer set to join the Rossoneri. Instead, Furlani and Moncada shifted their focus on Tielemans. Moncada knows Tielemans really well because it was he who brought the Belgian midfielder to Monaco for €25 million (two yeas latter he moved to Leicester City for €45 million). However, their efforts were fruitless.
Youri Tielemans decided to join Aston Villa on a free transfer instead of Milan. But Tielemans is not the only priority name that has eluded the new AC Milan management. Same fate will also have Evan Ndicka. The highly rated French centre back is available on a free transfer, just like Tielemans, after refusing to extend his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Serie A rivals Roma have reportedly won the race for Ndicka. Jose Mourinho’s side have are closing in on the 23-year-old and an announcement is expected soon. Ndicka will earn €4 million at Roma for the next five-years plus a signing on fee. In this way, Furlani and Moncada lose two important targets in the same week. Same outcome is expected also for Reiss Nelson who should renew his contract with Arsenal in the coming days.
