Spalletti and Maldini clash at half time of Napoli-Milan
High tension at the half time break between Napoli and AC Milan with Luciano Spalletti and Paolo Maldini the protagonists of a spat.
AC Milan offered their best performance of the season thrashing Napoli 4-0 at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium. The Rossoneri dominated Luciano Spalletti’s side like none has done so far leaving little room for risk. A brace from Rafael Leao and goals from Brahim Diaz and Alexis Saelemaekers secured three important points for the Italian champions.
However, there was high tension at during the break between AC Milan and Napoli. In the tunnel leading to the pitch, Luciano Spalletti and Paolo Maldini were the protagonists of a verbal clash. At the end of the first half, Spalletti approached the referee to complain about some episodes and Leao was also in the area, whom he scolded, apparently for the way he celebrated the first goal.
The AC Milan left winger explained politely and with respect his version (it is clear that Leao’s celebration was directed towards the criticisms he has received lately), before Paolo Maldini intervened in his defense: “Mister, you’re nervous, but you won the league, what the f… do you want” .
When asked about his spat with Paolo Maldini, Luciano Spalletti tried to downplay everything. The Napoli coach claimed that everything was a result of his protests for the yellow card that was received by Stanislav Lobotka. Protests that were not particularly appreciated by Paolo Maldini.
“Nothing happened with Maldini, I was asking the referee for explanations for Lobotka’s booking, he passed and waved as if to say that I always complain. I am also sorry for this fact, it is still Paolo Maldini. The only thing that annoyed me was Stefano Pioli’s plaintive attitude, like last year, but I also told him personally“.
