Liverpool are interested in Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie but AC Milan are working to tie him down to a new contract.
AC Milan have lost Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu this season. The duo left on free transfers so the Rossoneri are trying to avoid repeating the same mistake with Franck Kessie whose contract expires in less than one year.
Paolo Maldini has been in contract with Kessie’s agent, George Atangana, for a while but reaching an agreement has been hard. The 24-year-old central midfielder currently earns 2.2 million euros and is asking for a new contract at €6 million per season. A new meeting is scheduled for next week.
The Rossoneri are very optimistic that at the end an agreement will be reached but AC Milan need to be careful because other clubs lurking on the background. SportMediaset journalist Claudio Raimondi reports that Liverpool are seriously interested in the Ivorian midfielder.
The English giants are looking for a replacement after Georginio Wijnaldum left to join PSG. Liverpool have offered a rich long-term contract to Franck Kessie at €8 million per season according to SportMediaset. Much better terms that what Milan are offering. Nevertheless, Kessie’s priority is to stay at the San Siro.
The 24-year-old has been a key figure since his arrival from Atalanta in 2017 for a transfer fee of €32 million. Last season, “the tank” was one of the best Rossoneri players scoring 14 goals and assisting 6 in 50 appearances.
