SM: AC Milan have only 2 targets for the attacking midfielder role
Sportmediaset reports that AC Milan are considering only two candidates for the attacking midfielder role.
AC Milan are racing against time to complete their squad by 31 August. Less than two weeks remain until the transfer market closes and Pioli’s squad still needs some essential elements. After completing the defence with the arrival of Alessandro Florenzi from Roma, and close to making Bakayoko’s return a reality, Milan need to speed up their search for a new attacking midfielder.
Finding a replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu is probably the most important goal of the management. It is clear that Brahim Diaz, alone, cannot play in every match. It is necessary to acquire a player who is physically fit and who boasts that extra experience.
In recent months, AC Milan have been linked with James Rodriguez, Isco, Szbitzer, Coutinho, Josip Ilicic, Nikola Vlasic and Hakim Ziyech. However, the last two are AC Milan’s main targets until the end of the mercato reports Sportmediaset. The Rossoneri are monitoring only Vlasic and Ziyech with the other names no longer on their radar claims Sportmediaset.
Nikola Vlasic perhaps represents the ideal attacking midfielder in Stefano Pioli’s schemes. CSKA Moscow have opened to his departure but either on loan or permanently they insist that the final transfer fee should be 30 million euros. AC Milan would prefer to spend a lower fee for the 23-year-old and initially take him on loan.
The situation for Hakim Ziyech is even more complicated. Chelsea spent 40 million to sign him from Ajax and want to recoup the whole figure. The Blues are also not willing to let Ziyech leave on loan. The clock is ticking and Maldini must act quickly.
