Sky: AC Milan to announce new coach after Australia but name already chosen

AC Milan will soon announce with new coach with Stefano Pioli set to bid farewell after the Salernitana match.

All AC Milan fans are waiting to find out who will be the successor of Stefano Pioli at the Rossoneri bench and the moment of the truth is getting closer and closer. Many rumors have circulated in recent weeks. The recent announcement that Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi is parting ways at the end of the season with Brighton only fueled rumors on the future AC Milan coach.

The favorite of the majority of Milan fans is without a doubt Antonio Conte. However, Antonio Conte will not be joining AC Milan. Despite his willingness to embrace the Rossoneri project, the management has other preferences for the technical guidance of the team. Roberto De Zerbi too will not be the new AC Milan coach. The management has decided against appointing an Italian coach despite the suggestions of club legends like Sacchi and Capello.

The duo, unsuccessfully, urged the club management to consider a couple of Italian coaches who are already familiar with the specifics of Serie A. Nevertheless, the moment of the truth is approaching. AC Milan will play their last Serie A match on Saturday 25 May, when they face Salernitana at San Siro. But it won’t be the last match of the season, given that on May 31st the Rossoneri will play a friendly match against Roma in Perth, Australia.

Sky Sport journalist Manuele Baiocchini reports on what is expected to happen in within the next two weeks. The profile chosen is that of Paulo Fonseca. There will be news in the next few days, because we need to move forward with a series of necessary formal steps for Milan to sign him, starting with the fact that Fonseca has to refuse the various offers that he has received. Proposals such as the one for the contract renewal from Lille. The other one came to him from Marseille, but Fonseca will reject it because he wants to move forward and join AC Milan.

Paulo Fonseca is confirmed as AC Milan’s first choice and he should be the one to replace Stefano Pioli, with whom it will also be necessary to reach an agreement on the early termination of the contract expiring in June 2025: “Pioli and his staff weigh 11.5 million euros gross – adds Baiocchini – and it is normal that Milan want to reach an agreement with the current coach before appointing a new one. We will see if the agreement on the contract resolution will arrive by the end of this week, with the official announcement of the new coach arriving a few days later. Probably after the trip to Australia Milan will make announce officially the new coach and, barring surprises, it will be Paulo Fonseca“.
