Sky: AC Milan have decided the fate of Pioli

Sky Skport reports that the AC Milan management has already decided the fate of Stefano Pioli regardless of Champions League participation.

AC Milan’s Champions League race got complicated after the defeats against Sassuolo and Lazio but the newfound victory against Benevento and the missteps of some rivals have given the Rossoneri a chance for a place in the top four.

A breath of fresh air for coach Stefano Pioli who became target of criticism after the two KO’s. The Rossoneri can qualify for the Champions League and beating Juventus in Torino on Sunday would be a great step towards achieving this goal. A success would also help consolidate the position of the current manager.

According to reports by Sky Sport, Pioli’s future is not linked to qualification in Champions League next season. Surely finishing outside the top four would lead to great disappointment but it would not cancel the good things done in recent months. Barring sensational surprises, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara will confirm the Rossoneri coach.

Obviously Pioli hopes to close the season in the top four and finally play in Europe’s most prestigious competition after nearly a decade out. However, the AC Milan management seems keen to confirm their trust even in the event that the team ends the season in the Europa League area.

The relationship between the club and the coach is excellent. Obviously, some of the Italian coach’s choices may not have been shared, but Maldini and Massara have always spent words of esteem and support for Pioli. If there are no twists and turns, Stefano Pioli will be the AC Milan coach for next season.
