Shevchenko wants to sign AC Milan winger
New Genoa coach Andriy Shevchenko is looking for reinforcements at his former club to strengthen his relegation-threatened side.
The January transfer window will open in a about a month and a half. Clubs are currently preparing their incoming and outgoing operations and AC Milan are expected to be active again on the mercato.
The Rossoneri will try to solve some pending issues from the summer and at the same time make Stefano Pioli’s team even more competitive for the remaining of the season. AC Milan aim to sign a new attacking midfielder/right winger, with Romain Faivre being the most talked about target, while tryning to find a new destination for Samuel Castillejo.
The Rossoneri currently have three right winger in their ranks. Besides Castillejo, there are also Alexis Saelemaekers (the regular starter) and Junior Messias. Despite a match-winning performances against Hellas Verona, Samu Castillejo has recorded a total of only three appearances this season. He’s clearly no in Stefano Pioli’s plans and the mangement is working to find a new club for the former Villarreal.
According to Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo, Genoa have joined the race for Castillejo. New Genoa coach, Andriy Shevchenko, would like to have the 26-year-old Spanish right winger under his orders. Shevchenko’s good relationship with Milan can certainly facilitate a January transfer.
The former Rossoneri striker is reportedly considering abandoning Genoa’s old 3-5-2 formation. At the same time, Shevchenko needs new blood to help him improve the situation at his new club with Genoa currently fighting to avoid relegation. Milan are open to let Samu leave either permanently or on loan.
