AC Milan travel to Empoli on Matchday. The Rossoneri must turn the page after two consecutive draws in Serie A.
Minimal changes expected for today’s evening game versus Empoli. Despite some injury problems the Rossoneri need to make points and another false step today would put in risk the continuity of the season. All AC Milan rivals won yesterday and the Red and Blacks are forced to keep up the pace or Champions League risks becoming a mirage.
Coach Gennaro Gattuso will rely again on the usual starters for today’s match with Empoli. With Gianluigi Donnarumma between the posts and the defensive line again composed by Davide Calabria and Ricardo Rodriguez on the flanks, with Alessio Romagnoli and Mateo Musacchio at the center. Ignazio Abate was considered in Calabria’s place but the young right back recovered from a slight problem.
In midfield will start the regular trio Frank Kessie, Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura. Only one change in attack. Gonzalo Higuain has not traveled with the team to Empoli after a muscular injury. The Argentine striker risks losing even Sunday’s game against Sassuolo.
While Jesus Suso and Hakan Calhanoglu will play on the wings, at the center the situation is a bit more complicated. Patrick Cutrone has fully recovered but Gennaro Gattuso fears it may be too soon to start the young striker form the first minute. It’s up to Fabio Borini to lead the attack. Rino will deploy the Italian as a false nine.
