Scouts urging AC Milan to ditch David in favor of new Leipzig star
AC Milan are urged to stop the pursuit of Jonathan David in favor of Red Bull Leipzig emerging star Benjamin Sesko.
AC Milan failed to sign a new centre forward this summer. The Rossoneri negotiated for a long time the possible purchase of Mehdi Taremi but without success. Luka Jovic arrived on the last day of the summer transfer window to complete the department. Olivier Giroud remains the point of refence with Jovic and Noah Okafor as alternatives.
However, the situation will surely change at the end of season. AC Milan will make a big investment to sign a top centre forward able to guarantee a considerable number of goals and the fee to be spend could reach up to €50 million. Jonathan David is rumored to be the top target with AC Milan already having discussed a potential transfer this year.
Jonathan David has seen his stock only increase since joining Lille in 2020. He has had improved numbers with each passing season at Lille and seems ready for the big leap forward. At the same tim, AC Milan continue to keep tabs on the situation of Benjamin Sesko. The 20-year-old Slovenian striker is another name with world class player potential.
Journalist Andrea Longoni reports that scouts are asking AC Milan to ditch Jonathan David in favor of Benjamin Sesko. The clubs scouts don’t consider David a suited player in the air meaning AC Milan will not be able to exploit Mike Maignan’s long passes. In addition, the Canadian needs the team and cannot resolve the match with a single movement. Plus, his goal scoring numbers are inflated by penalty kicks with 11 of his 26 goals last season coming from the penalty spot.
On the other hand, Benjamin Sesko is considered the full package. His career at Red Bull Leipzig has started on a high note with Sesko finding 3 times in the first 5 games. The AC Milan management feels that unless they make a move for Benjamin Sesko this season they will lose the highly rated Slovenian to Premier League rivals. Moncada and Furlani need to act quickly and perhaps pay a premium for a yet unproven player but with endless potential.
