AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni defends the idea of build a brand new stadium rather than renovating San Siro.
AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni was present today at Foro Buonaparte, alongside Inter’s CEO Alessandro Antonelli, for a press conference on the delicate issue of the new stadium in the city of Milan. The two clubs are pushing for a new stadium otherwise will go to build elsewhere.
Scaroni, who was recently reconfirmed as a member of the AC Milan board also by the new owners, offered his reasoning why the idea of renovating the current San Siro stadium is no the right choice. An option that Scaroni considers unprofitable and even dangerous.
“Tomorrow the public debate will begin, which we look positively on. We will listen to what comes out, if we can get out of it in a positive way it will be a year gained. In my opinion, San Siro cannot be renovated. There are various reasons, for example how do we play 50 games plus other events on a mega construction site where 50,000 people enter every six days? I assure you that this is impossible and very dangerous“.
AC Milan are considering only two options for the new stadium. “Every time I hear why we don’t renovate the San Siro. Those who say this either have not thought fully or do not want to go through with the project. For us it is an impossible hypothesis. So either we build the new stadium by building it from scratch at San Siro or we do it somewhere else“.
Scaroni confirms that RedBird are strongly in favor of building a new stadium. “RedBird are even more convinced than Elliott on AC Milan’s need for a new stadium. They know what it means to own a stadium. They are giving me great support with people who have built many stadiums. Elliott is a financial fund, while RedBrd has sport as its vocation”.
