‘It was a blessing not to join Milan’ – former target
Former AC Milan transfer target claims it was a blessing not to join the Rossoneri when the opportunity arose.
Romain Faivre is having a great season as one of Ligue 1 protagonists. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has scored eight goals and provided six assists in twenty-five appearances across all competitions.
Faivre was very close to joining AC Milan during last summer. The French player winked at the Rossoneri on more than one occasion but AC Milan could not reach an agreement with Brest. Nevertheless, Faivre changed club in January moving to Lyon.
His desire to play for the Red and Blacks was evident. In more than one interview Romain Faivre made it clear he wanted to join Milan but the latest one released in France leaves to desire. “It was flattering to know that Milan were interested in me. It didn’t happen and it was a blessing. I said to myself: you are lucky to be in Ligue 1, at Brest, to play almost every match, take advantage of it. There will be an opportunity to go to a big club.“
“Lyon had been interested in me for some time but I let my representatives take care of it. They met Bruno Cheyrou and Mr. Ponsot, in view of a transfer in the summer but the departure of Bruno Guimaraes made things easier this winter. I came here to play, Lyon signed me for my qualities and I want to show what I can do. Lyon always brings their best players to the national team“.
AC Milan negotiated with Brest until the last day of the summer transfer window but ultimately nothing happened. Brest refused to sell their gem despite a €15 million offer from Milan. The French club were furious with their player after he went on striker in order to force a move to AC Milan.
