La Gazzetta dello Sport confirms that AC Milan will sack Stefano Pioli at the end of the season but excludes the arrival of German coach Ralf Rangnick.
Red Bull Leipzig mastermind Ralf Rangnick will not be the next coach of AC Milan reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. According to the Italian newspaper, although Stefano Pioli is poised to leave at the end of the season, the German coach will not take the reigns at the Rossoneri for a specific reason: he has no experience in Serie A.
The next upheaval in management is certain at the end of the season but this time Elliot intends to rely on a top name for the bench. Someone who can guarantee success after countless underwhelming attempts. Two under the tenure of Elliott Management. First with Gennaro Gattuso who only touched the target and this season with Marco Giampaolo and Pioli.
There cannot be a third time, and so – ensures the newspaper – the AC Milan owners are ready to make an important effort to secure a top coach for the Rossoneri. Someone who really makes a difference and who is a huge reassurance. An identikit that does not correspond to the former Leipzig coach who no experience outside Germany. In addition, adds La Gazzetta, Rangnick does not have the backing of Maldini and Boban.
The only fact at this point is that at the end of the season Milan and Pioli will part ways. Despite his best work, his Milan has never fully convinced. Too discontinuous, too insecure. The fourth place is now a mirage. Nobody had asked him the Champions League, at least not officially, but there was the idea of attempting the feat. The 10 points of distance from Atalanta exclude any possibility of dreaming. The numbers of Pioli are far from exciting: in 18 games his AC Milan has won 8 times, lost 5 and drew 5, scoring 26 goals and conceding 24.
His replacement? The ideal candidate for AC Milan would be Massimiliano Allegri. The former Juventus coach dominated Italy in the last decade winning 6 Serie A titles, 4 times the Coppa Italia and 3 times the Italian Super Cup. He also reached the Champions League final twice and remains the last AC Milan coach to win the Scudetto. His past positive experience at Milan is a huge factor in the eyes of the management. The cost of this operation will be quite high because Milan must continue to pay Giampaolo and Pioli’s salary until 2021. Nevertheless, Elliot is ready to make a sacrifice.
