Rangnick gives surprising orders on Kessie

In the last transfer windows AC Milan have tried without success to sell Franck Kessie but now the tide seems to have turned for the Ivorian midfielder.

Frank Kessie is closing in on 200 club appearances during his carer with Cesena, Atalanta and AC Milan. The path of the 23-year-old midfielder may still be very long despite the continuous rumors on his possible departure on every transfer window. In fact, according to Calciomercato, the fate of the rocky Ivorian midfielder seems to have changed.

Always close to being sold on the last three transfer windows, the former Atalanta, surprisingly, this time should not end up on the expendable list. The reason has a name and a surname: Ralf Rangnick. The German coach, in fact, seems to have planned a new Milan with Franck Kessie part of his project.

The future coach of AC Milan has always focused heavily on similar player profiles in the past. Between Schalcke 04 and Red Bull Leipzig, for example, the 63-year-old has relied on players like Naby Keita, Amadou Haidara or Diego Demme who won the Coppa Italia with Napoli yesterday.

And now in Rangnick’s projected 4-4-2 formation for AC Milan, he’s ready to confirm Kessie next to Ismael Bennacer at the heart of the midfield. Thus the future of the Ivorian international seems already decided: Kessie will remain at Milan. There is a second motive behind this surprising decision.

At the end of the season Milan will lose Giacomo Bonaventura, Lucas Biglia and at least one between Lucas Paqueta and Rude Krunic. With a limited transfer budged the club can’t afford a total overhaul or reduced numbers in midfield.
