Real Madrid are looking at AC Milan striker Rafael Leao as Benzema’s substitute with Los Blancos already in talks with his agent.

Spanish magazine Don Balon released a transfer bomb yesterday reporting that AC Milan striker Rafael Leao was being considered as the replacement of Karim Benzema by La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Since Ronaldo’s departure, Real Madrid have been very dependent on Benzema. Mariano Diaz and Luka Jovic have been total flops with the later named as one of the worst European transfers of last season.

According to rumors, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has contacted agent Jorge Mendes to inquire on Leao’s availability this summer. Apparently the 21-year-old Portuguese striker has said yes to a potential transfer to Los Blancos.

While AC Milan would like to keep Leao, Don Balon reports that if Madrid were to offer 35-40 million euros then the Rossoneri would let him go. One year ago AC Milan spent 25 million to buy Leao from Lille.

His career has not been regular but the Portuguese has done remarkably well since the lockdown. He finished the season positively with 6 goals and 3 assists in 33 appearances. Next season he’s expected to serve as Ibrahimovic and Rebic’s back up in attack should he stay at Milan.
