Journalist: “AC Milan forward could become the best player of the last 15 years”

Peppe Di Stefano claims that AC Milan winger Rafael Leao could become the best player of the club of the last 15 years.

After two years of ups and down Rafael Leao is now showcasing his true potential. The 22-year-old Portuguese right winger has finally become a key player for the Rossoneri squad giving a significant contribution in the scudetto fight. With 11 goals and 6 assists he is AC Milan most productive player this season.

Sky sport journalist Peppe Di Stefano believes that Rafael Leao can becomes the best AC Milan player of the last 15 years if he improves a specific defect. “Leao is a player who this year has completely changed gear compared to previous seasons, he had different numbers, he had the same perspective but within the team he had a totally different impact.

He played in 8 big matches this year, Milan won 5 with him on the pitch and never lost. He scored 3 goals in these matches and that’s not trivial. What Milan was not happy about before was that Leao was not continuous in his performances and he was not the player that Milan thought they had signed him two and a half years ago. Now Leao, even his teammates and managers say it in a low voice, does not even realize how strong he is.

He is the most explosive player in Serie A, he has an incredible physicality. He is not a penalty area striker, or at least he doesn’t just love scoring goals, he loves dribbling, he loves touching the ball many times.

What is he missing? Just a little bit more continuity and it is not a banality. If he were to find true continuity Rafael Leao would become one of the strongest players, in my opinion, that he has appeared at Milanello in the last 15 years. He has different characteristics from the others, clearly at the San Paolo (against Napoli) he will be among the protagonists”, says Di Stefano.
