The Rossoneri continue their search for a new centre forward and the names of Alvaro Morata and Timo Werner are top choice of Massimiliano Mirabelli for next season. AC Milan want a new striker after a disappointing campaign with Andre Silva and Nikola Kalinic. The duo failed to justify the 63 million euros paid for the two. La Gazzetta dello Sport explains why AC Milan should, and should not, sign Morata and Werner.

PRO MORATA – The 25 year old striker knows the Italian championship as only a champion does since he is a two times Scudetto winner with Juventus. He is accustomed to prestigious clubs having played previously with Real Madrid, Juventus and Chelsea and together with his Italian wife Alice is dreaming of a return in Serie A. Last summer he was Mirabelli’s top choice for the attack.

CONS MORATA – His last season in England was not exciting. Alvaro Morata scored a single goal in Premier League in 2018. With 11 goals from the Spaniard last season doubts have emerged regarding his profile, he lost his starting place to Giroud this year and was not summoned by Spain for the World Cup. A back injury completed his unfortunate season. Despite all of this Morata earns nine million euros and, of course, he accepts Milan only if the Rossoneri are allowed to play in Europa League next season.

PRO WERNER – Timo is perhaps the biggest talent of German football and first choice starter of the national team. The talented 22 year old was top goal scorer of the last Confederations Cup and will lead the attack of Germany in World Cup. His value can continue to grow this summer and in longer term. He is a young-expert and Gattuso is much fond of him: 3 goals in 6 Champions League games.

CONS WERNER – Competition for his services is extreme, starting from the two finalists of Champions, Real Madrid and Liverpool. Werner has expressed himself well in Germany and in European competitions but it would his first experience outside Bundesliga. Not really a bet, but in some ways an unknown variable. And AC Milan is in need of players ready to perform.
