AC Milan new signing Charles De Ketelaere is having a difficult period at San Siro, unable to showcase his true talent.

AC Milan spent the majority of the summer transfer window in negotiations with Club Brugge for Charles De Ketelaere. After a very long and tiring period of talks, the Rossoneri managed to secure the services of the young Belgian attacking midfielder for a fee of €32 million that can increase up to €35 million with add-ons.

De Ketelaere became one of the most expensive transfers in the history of AC Milan. However, Club Brugge could have earned much more had they accepted to sell their most prized asset to Leeds United. The English side offered €40 million but Charles wanted only AC Milan.

Nevertheless, Leeds have not given up on De Ketelaere. According to the English press, Leeds United have reportedly made contact with AC Milan over a potential January deal for Charles De Ketelaere. The Premier League clubs have never lost sight of the Belgian talent.

Leeds director of football Victor Orta and coach Jesse Marsch are known admirers of the talented attacking midfielder. TeamTalk report that Leeds have asked to be kept informed by the Rossoneri over their intentions for the 21-year-old. Leeds are ready to take De Ketelaere on loan for the remaining of the season.

Despite his disappointing start to life in Italy, the Serie A champions are not willing to give up on 21-year-old attacking midfielder. AC Milan will afford Charles De Ketelaere with time to adapt to new surroundings and culture. Paolo Maldini’s words on the matter couldn’t have been more clear: “We signed a five-year contract with Charles not five months, we are waiting for him“.
