AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli is set to extend his contract until 2024. The new agreement will be signed by the end of the month.
The Rossoneri club and Stefano Pioli will continue their journey together. The parties are satisfied with the work done so far, the results obtained and the relationship that has been created. The extension of Pioli’s contract is now a matter of days.
The Italian coach during yesterday’s event in which he received the 2021 Liedholm Award confirmed that he will renew with Milan: “There is full harmony with the club, a perfect synergy to do a great job, sharing the same ambitions and motivations. There is a common will to continue together. Milan is inside me, it gives me emotions, in reality it happened from the first day at Milanello.” His words are clear.
Today La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the renewal of Pioli will certainly take place before Christmas. Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are in the closing stage with Gabriele Giuffrida, Pioli’s agent. Stefano Pioli will sign a new contract until 2024 and will earn 4 million euros per year (bonuses included). Although a three-year agreement can not be excluded.
The new contract will be signed when AC Milan CEO, Ivan Gazidis, returns from New York. The South African executive is expected to be back in Italy by the end of November. He is currently spending the majority of his time in USA for medical treatments.
Although AC Milan have the possibility of exercising an option present in Pioli’s current contract to renew until 2023 with the same salary (2 million plus 500 thousand euros in Champions League qualification bonus), the Rossoneri have decided otherwise. The Italian coach deserves an improved contract as a reward for his great work done so far. The new agreement makes him one of the best paid coaches in Serie A.
