Pioli recovers 3 key players in time for Monza match
Amid many injuries, three key players have recovered in time for AC Milan’s upcoming match against Berlusconi’s Monza.
AC Milan will host Monza at San Siro on Saturday. The upcoming match between the two clubs will mark the return of former president Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani. The duo masterminded a surprising Serie A promotion last season and aim to keep Monza at the top tier of Italian football.
Saturday’s encounter will be a very special match for the Red and Black supporters. Coach Stefano Pioli will be another happy face, not due to nostalgia, but because he will finally have back under his orders three key players.
Mike Maignan has fully recovered and should take over from Tatarusanu on goal. The French goalkeeper admitted that he asked to start since the Hellas Verona match. “It’s true, I told the coach and the doctor that I wanted to play from the first minute with Verona but this injury is dangerous and I listened to them. They know better than me so I stopped to work and get ready.“
Charles De Ketelaere was forced to stay out for the last gams against Chelsea and Verona because of a muscle injury. The Belgian attacking midfielder will offer additional solutions to Pioli who had only Brahim Diaz in that position, in addition to adapting Rade Krunic. De Ketelaere could also start form the first minute against Monza.
The leader of the defence Simon Kjaer will also be available against Monza. The 33-year-old Denmark captain returned to play after a very long eight-month injury but was sidelined two weeks ago because of a bices femoris muscle injury.
