Pioli overhauls attack for Milan-Lecce

Newly appointed AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli makes his debut on the Rossoneri bench with some novelties in attack.

AC Milan host Lecce on Saturday at San Siro. Coach Stefano Pioli has pretty much projected his starting eleven for his debut match at the Rossoneri bench but there is still one doubt.

The Italian has been working for the past week at Milanello but only yesterday he had the entire squad at his disposal. In today’s training session he tried all the possible combinations in order to better understand the team. Tomorrow’s training session will be decisive to clear his doubts regarding the choices in attack with Rafael Leao, Piatek and Ante Rebic fighting for two available slots.

According to Sky Sport, Krzysztof Piatek should keep his place at the center of the attack, while Ante Rebic should finally have a chance to prove himself from the first minute as left winger with Suso on right.

Thus leaving Rafael Leao on the bench. The Portuguese striker has been one of the few bright spots so far but Pioli seems oriented to make other choices for Milan vs Lecce. He will certainly make an impact in the second-half.

The same applies for Hakan Calhanoglu. There were rumors that he would be moved again in attack to play as left winger, just like under Gennaro Gattuso, but it seems like the Turkey international will not have a central role in Pioli’s hierarchy.
