Pioli to make one big change for Milan vs Napoli
Serie A resumes with AC Milan vs Napoli on Saturday and coach Stefano Pioli is already thinking about changes on the starting eleven.
After a two week break for international duty Serie A football returns this Saturday. At 18:00 CET, AC Milan host Napoli at the San Siro stadium in a very important and delicate match for both clubs who are going through a very tough period.
Napoli have failed to win either of their last five games and the situation escalated after the players mutiny against president Aurelio De Laurentiis. The situation is not better on the Rossoneri camp with AC Milan sitting 14th in Serie A standings with just 13 points and 7 defeats after 12 league rounds.
Coach Stefano Pioli is already preparing for Milan vs Napoli and the changes he intends to make regarding the starting eleven. Finally we could see Ante Rebic make his first minute debut. Not because of the player’s merit but mostly by chance. With Samuel Castillejo injured and Hakan Calhanoglu suspended, Pioli has no choice but to rely on the Croatian winger.
According to Corriere dello Sport, after several appearances as a substitute it’s a golden chance for Rebic to win the trust of the coach. Pioli has considered three solutions to this problem for Milan vs Napoli. Playing Giacomo Bonaventura (not fully recovered) as left winger, advancing Lucas Paqueta in that position or even adapting Rafael Leao.
Protagonist of a loan swap with Andre Silva, the former Eintracht Frankfurt so far has not left his mark. The Portuguese has done much better in Germany making 7 appearances out of 13 from the first minute and scoring three goals. Ante Rebic on the other hand, not only has never started a match from the first minute but but he has played a total of just 133 minutes. Another missed opportunity could mean the end for him.
