Pioli makes Champions League promise and reveals key formation change

In today’s press conference before the Verona match, AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli makes Champions League promise to the fans.

On the eve of Hellas Verona vs AC Milan, the usual press conference of Stefano Pioli was held at Milanello. Obviously the Rossoneri coach expects his team return to win to the winning ways at the Marcantonio Bentegodi stadium, even though a tough match is expected against the hosts.

Pioli comments AC Milan’s performance in 2021: “It is inevitable that if we compare it the last two years our results seem lower. Thinking of having the same continuity was difficult. There are injuries, more than we are used to. Since September we have been playing every 4 days, there is Covid, these are problematic situations. Now we have to bounce back and we will try to play as a team, win as much as possible in the next two and a half months“.

On the Serie A standings: “We have always been focused on our performances, never giving importance to others. Our path must see us positive and convinced of our qualities. We don’t stop and look at the other results, let’s focus on our match, we have many qualities to put on the pitch” .

Pioli promises Champions League qualification. “We bet on ourselves to qualify for Champions, for sure. I repeat that there are 7 very strong teams in the race. We are satisfied with our path towards the Champions League. If we don’t succeed we will be very disappointed“.

Krunic before Diaz. “We drew twice with Verona last year. Their players will create difficulties for us, we must be prepared. They have different characteristics, Krunic is fine, he has rested, probably he has more chances of playing than Diaz”. It will be the Bosnian midfielder to replace Calhanoglu rather than Brahim Diaz.
