Pioli considering formation surprise for derby

Stefano Pioli is considering benching Christian Pulisic in favor if Samuel Chukwueze in the derby reports Corriere dello Sport.

The Derby della Madonnina will be held at San Siro on Saturday. While Stefano Pioli hasn’t received positive news from France, the Italian coach can smile after the matches of Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze with the United States and Nigeria. Both AC Milan right wingers found the back of the net with their national teams.

That’s welcomed news for the Pioli who needs to deal with the injury of Olivier Giroud in attack. Inter are in fact one of the preferred victims of the French striker. Corriere dello Sport reports today that Stefano Pioli could have a big surprise in the starting formation for the derby and is considering handing Chukwueze his first minute debut.

The 24-year-old has featured in the Rossoneri’s first three Serie A matches but as always a substitute in the second half. The Nigerian right winger has yet to make his first minute debut following his €28 million transfer from Villarreal. Samuel Chukwueze has been left aside a bit after the explosion of Pulisic.

The American international has excelled in his first outings and was even named AC Milan’s MVP for August. Christian Pulisic contributed with 2 goals and has played in key role in the Rossoneri’s victories so far. He is already being considered one of the best signings of the summer transfer window.

However, Pioli is also taking into consideration the long flight of Pulisic in order to return to Italy. The American star will not be under Stefano Pioli’s orders until Thursday. A final decision will be made only after Pioli and his staff have assessed the conditions of both players at Milanello.
