Pioli chooses starting XI for Milan vs Tottenham
AC Milan host Tottenham Hotspur at San Siro in the first leg of the Champions League clash. Pioli confirms the 3-4-1-2 formation.
Champions League football returns this week. AC Milan will host Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg at San Siro, tomorrow, at 21:00 CET. Milan vs Tottenham will be a clash between two clubs that are deeply struggling in their respective leagues. The Rossoneri finally returned to victory against Torino while the Spurs were hammered by Leicester City.
Coach Stefano Pioli will confirm the 3-4-2-1 formation for Milan vs Tottenham. The Italian will start with three central defenders. Despite the last very positive performances of Thiaw, Pioli has decided to risk Fikayo Tomori and Simon Kjaer at the heart of the defence, alongside Pierre Kalulu.
Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria will play on the wings. Unfortunately, Ismael Bennacer has not recovered in time for the Tottenham match. Sandro Tonali will lead the midfield and will partner with Rade Krunic. Brahim Diaz will be deployed in the attacking midfielder role.
Once again, Olivier Giroud will play alongside Rafael Leao in attack. The French centre forward returned to goal in Serie A and hopes to repeated himself in the Champions League. The Portuguese star has yet make a significant impact this year. Perhaps, Champions League will be the perfect stage for Leao to showcase his true talent.
AC MILAN Probable XI (3-4-2-1): Tatarusanu, Kalulu, Kjaer, Tomori, Calabria, Tonali, Krunic, Theo Hernandez, Brahim Diaz, Leao, Giroud.
TOTTENHAM Probable XI (3-4-2-1): Forster; Romero, Dier, Davies; Emerson, Sarr, Skipp, Perisic; Kulusevski, Son; Kane.
