AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli is being directly involved in the talks for the French centre forward.
As already reported by acmilaninfo.com, Stefano Pioli will play a much bigger role starting from the summer. Following the departure of Maldini and Massara, Pioli takes the role of club manager and will be much more involved in the transfers process and it seems like the 57-year-old is not wasting any time.
One of the big transfer priorities of AC Milan this summer, if not the biggest, is the signing of a top level centre forward. French striker Marcus Thuram has remained on the list of targets even after the departure of Maldini. The 25-year-old is one of the me most sought-after players on the market.
Thuram will leave Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer after refusing to renew his contract with the German club. AC Milan are trying to profit from the situation and bring Thuram at San Siro. Gazzetta dello Sport reports that coach Stefano Pioli has called directly Marcus Thuram to convince him to accept AC Milan’s offer.
The race for Marcus Thuram is very intense with Paris Saint-Germain also interested in his services. While the French giants can offer him better contract terms, Milan are trying to convince Thuram by giving him a central role in their squad for next season. Pioli explained to the player that he can lead the Rossoneri’s attack, something that is not guaranteed at PSG. Monday could be a crucial day for the talks.
Signing Marcus Thuram as a free agent would be a great piece of business from the Red and Black club. The France international already has important experience. He is a mix of power, speed and technique that would be quite useful to Pioli and Milan. Marcus ended the year with 16 goals and 7 assists in a total of 32 appearances.
