Pedulla: AC Milan set key meeting for possible Zaniolo transfer
AC Milan are seriously interested in Roma forward Nicolo Zaniolo with a key meeting set on Tuesday. The Italian is on the market.
The Italian winter mercato is about to get spicy near its end with the situation of Nicolo Zaniolo taking center stage. The 23-year-old Italian winger has been put on the market by the Giallorossi. Roma are ready to part ways with Zaniolo after the player refused the call-up for this afternoon’s match against Spezia.
The split between the parties is evident and the they are working to find the best possible solution already in this transfer window. Roma are eager to find a solution as soon as possible given Nicolo’s contract expiration on June 2024. AC Milan are monitoring Zaniolo’s situation with great interest.
It’s not a secret that Maldini and Massara are big admirers of Zaniolo. Especially Massara who played a big role in his signing from Inter. Journalist Alfredo Pedulla reports that Paolo Maldini has contacted the agents of Nicolo Zaniolo to understand the conditions of a possible transfer in January.
Roma are currently asking a figure of 35 million euros in order to sell Zaniolo but interest in his services is not that high. Besides AC Milan, Tottenham and Brighton are the two other clubs interested in the 23-year-old. However, the Premier League duo have made it clear to Roma they are willing to sign the Italian winger only on loan.
AC Milan have informed Zaniolo’s entourage that they are seriously interested in his services for the summer but, should Roma’s demands change, they are open to explore a January transfer. The parties have set another meeting on Tuesday, after AC Milan’s match against Lazio, reports Pedulla. There is a serious possibility that Roma could lower their asking price to €25 million just to offload Zaniolo during this window.
