AC Milan have turned their attention to Napoli striker Dries Mertens to solve their problems in attack. De Laurentiis is eager to sell.

Dries Mertens is the new name on AC Milan’s orbit. The 32-year-old Belgium striker was one of the leaders of the squad mutiny against Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis and will be axed as soon as the January transfer window opens.

His contract expires in June 2020 and therefore Napoli cannot make exaggerated requests for their star or they risk loosing him for free in six months. According to Sportmediaset, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is asking 10 million euros for Dries Mertens. A figure that some clubs may consider excessive seeing the player’s age but no one can doubt his qualities.

In addition to Mertens, Milan is also considering other profiles for the attack. Krzysztof Piatek and Rafael Leao have been wasteful in front of the goal failing to score in many games. A difficult situation that has negatively affected the Rossoneri and their placing in Serie A.

Sportmediaset reports that the Rossoneri have also conducted an inquiry for Olivier Giroud. The 33-year-old French striker is in a similar situation with Mertens with his contract expiring at the end of the season. However, Giroud wants to leave in advance due to the lack of play time at Chelsea. At the moment, Inter are in pole position for his services.

Real Madrid are offering Mariano Diaz to AC Milan. The former Lyon striker appears to be completely out of the Zidane’s project and must search for a new club in January. Real Madrid are also willing to accept a loan move in order to get rid of the 26-year-old striker. Mario Mandzukic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are two names that are not part of Maldini’s list. Juventus will accept only a permanent transfer for the Croatian striker while Ibrahimovic, for many reasons, is not a realistic option.
