AC Milan won a very crucial match against Napoli but the Rossoneri again highlighted their shortcomings in attack.
AC Milan have failed to resolve the attacking midfielder conundrum. After the farewell of Hakan Calhanoglu, the Rossoneri decided to rely only on Brahim Diaz. The excellent start of the Spaniard made the Red and Blacks think that the Spaniard was indeed the right choice.
However, after overcoming Covid, the former Real Madrid has mostly been a shadow of his former self giving little contribution in the Scudetto fight. Yesterday with Napoli he started from the bench once again. Only four goals are too little for a footballer who plays in such a key role. A new attacking midfielder should be a must on Maldini’s list of targets.
The match with Napoli offered important indications on the mercato making everyone understand that a new right winger must be the number one priority in the upcoming summer window. Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers gave their best but often a bit of quality was lacking.
The chance that the Belgian winger failed to transform in goal in the last moments of the match was a perfect example. The Brazilian too is often inaccurate in front of the goal. Their level, unfortunately, is not comparable to that of Rafael Leao on the left.
That’s why Domenico Berardi, or a player with similar characteristics, would be perfect for AC Milan’s game. The Rossoneri need goals and assists from the right wing. While Theo Hernandez and Leao are doing a great job on the left the situation is different on the opposite flank. Instead, Berardi is having another great season scoring 12 goals and assisting 14 so far.
