AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli is under fire following a series of negative results in Champions League and Serie A.
AC Milan are going through a very difficult period. Aside from the win against Paris Saint-Germain, the Rossoneri have been disastrous in the league unable to win in the last four matches. AC Milan have lost against Juventus and Udinese and drew with Napoli and Lecce after commanding an initial two-goals lead. It’s only November and AC Milan are already 8 points behind Serie A leaders, Inter.
Coach Stefano Pioli is under fire for his inability to turn things around and the too many injuries that are happening at a frightening occurrence. Unlike before, Stefano Pioli is no longer untouchable. Tuttosport reports that Stefano Pioli is at serious risk of getting sacked unless he secures victories against Fiorentina and especially against Borussia Dortmund.
AC Milan are already looking around for options. Marcello Gallardo has offered himself but Milan are not convinced by a coach that did a great job in South America but has never coached in Europe. Antonio Conte is not a realistic option due to his salary demands of at least €7 million per season. Graham Potter is a new name on AC Milan’s radar.
Journalist Pasquale Guarro reports that Graham Potter is the name that AC Milan management favors the most. He is not the only name on AC Milan’s list of targets but he is the one that attracts the management most. In fact, in recent days there was a meeting between Geoffrey Moncada and Potter’s agent from Wasserman agency.
Graham Potter did a great job while in helm of Brighton. However, he failed to live up to the hype after his appointment as Chelsea coach. Potter lasted less than a season in charge of Chelsea and was sacked after a series of disappointing results following pharaonic spending on the market. His successors have not done better to be honest. Potter is currently available waiting on his next club.
