MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – It this relatively quite days regarding transfer market rumors, Carlo Pellegatti offers some important updates on who is going to be AC Milan’s top summer signing.
With the arrival of Krunic, Theo Hernandez and Bennacer the clubs gave stability to the project. Now the Rossoneri need a top level purchase, one that will help the team make a quality leap forward. Gedson Fernandes | BENFICA
Benfica star Gedson Fernandes is AC Milan’s top transfer target according to Pellegatti. The Rossoneri have contacted the Portuguese club and have received very encouraging signals.
Benfica are willing to sell Gedson Fernandes to AC Milan for 30 million euros plus bonuses. A figure that, at the moment, is slightly excessive for Milan. Except the money expected to be invested for Veretout, Milan have another 25 million euros available to spend.
However, this figure could soon change if the Rossoneri sell an important player. Donnarumma, Suso and Kessie would guarantee important figures that would be reinvested to fund a move for the 19-year-old Portuguese.
The presence of Benfica’s sporting director, Rui Costa, a former legend of the Rossoneri, could facilitate a deal. AC Milan intend to offer 25 million euros plus 10 million in bonuses to convince the Portuguese.

Dennis Praet | SAMPDORIA
The other target is Dennis Praet. When Marco Giampaolo was announced as AC Milan there were two Sampdoria players he suggested Milan to sign. The first was defender Joachim Andersen who joined Lyon and the second was Praet.
Giampaolo is a big fan of Praet and would love to have him at Milan. In fact the Italian coach considers the Belgium international as the new Modric: “Praet can become the Modric of tomorrow“.
However, AC Milan are second in line for the services of the 25-year-old central midfielder. According to reports, Sampdoria has received an important offer from Spain but the player is awaiting for Milan.
Sampdoria’s request of 30 million euros has complicated negotiations. However, Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero recently admitted that Praet to Milan is still a possibility. “Praet will likely go to Milan. Giampaolo was in love with him and last year he begged me not to sell him”.
Last season, he made 34 Serie A appearances, scoring 2 goals and assisting 3, and established himself as one of the best central midfielders in Italy.

Dani Ceballos | REAL MADRID
The Rossoneri remain interested in Dani Ceballos. The Spanish central midfielder will certainly leave Real Madrid this summer but his next destination is still a mystery.
He wants to play more and coach Zinedine Zidane doesn’t see him as a regular member in his squad. Except AC Milan, Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in his services.
Talks with Real Madrid have not been easy because the Spanish giants want to let him leave on loan or sale only with a buy-back clause. Two conditions that AC Milan are not willing to accept. If Ceballos arrives at San Siro he will arrive only on a permanent deal.
For Ceballos the Rossoneri are willing to invest as much as 40 million euros but Real Madrid could use him as a technical counterpart in negotiations with Totteham for Eriksen.

Hakan Calhanoglu | AC MILAN
If Milan fail to find a big name on the market, Giampaolo’s plan is to adapt Calhanoglu as regista with Lucas Paqueta serving as attacking midfielder behind the two strikers.
The summer transfer window is long and Calhanoglu represents a plan B for the Red and Blacks. Though Milan are willing to invest for an important name they will do so only under the right conditions and for a fair price.
While finding a location for Suso in Giampaolo’s 4-3-1-2 game system is a difficult feat that can not be said for Calhanoglu. He has the technical qualities required to succeed in this role and take a similar path to Andrea Pirlo.
It has been tried in the past with former coach Gennaro Gattuso but without success. Could Giampaolo be the key? Only time will tell.
