AC Milan are determined to bring a new winger this summer regardless of Suso’s decision to stay or not. Sports director Mirabelli considers Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo as the perfect solution.
The main goal of AC Milan for the next season will be to provide coach Gattuso a wider range of choices. To date, for example, there is no natural substitute for Suso. In times like this, where the Spaniard is struggling physically, a new player is desperately needed to fill his shoes. That’s why Massimiliano Mirabelli is looking for a player with similar technical characteristics to alternate with former Liverpool or even replace him for good. The player to lead the list, reports Tuttosport, is Domenico Berardi, an old target of the Rossoneri sports director.
The Italian 23 year old will not play in tomorrow’s Milan-Sassuolo due to a knee injury (he also missed the first leg). A sigh of relief for AC Milan, the favorite victim of the right winger. Against the Rossoneri, in fact, he scored 8 goals in as many games. Among these also a poker (which cost his job to Massimiliano Allegri) and a hat-trick.
In recent years, however, Berardi has experienced a slight drop in form, both in terms of performance and goals scored. In the first two seasons of Sassuolo in Serie A he closed with 16 and then with 15 goals. But from season 2015-16 till now he has only scored 14. The talented winger in recent years also had to deal with several physical problems, but his biggest limit, according to rumors, would be his difficult attitude, not a problem for Rino.
Despite all, the qualities of the 23 year old are not in question. Mirabelli, who has been following him since the time when he was head scout of Inter, knows it perfectly. He wanted Berardi at Inter and, according to Tuttosport, he would be interested in bringing him to AC Milan. Gattuso could be the right coach to revitalize him, just as he did with many other members of the current squad. However the Rossoneri must pay attention to two factors: his price tag (should be around 20-25 million) and Eusebio Di Francesco, his former coach who wants him at Roma.
