Mirabelli hits out at Raiola and considers Fassone an extraterrestrial

Massimiliano Mirabelli in an interview for Quotidiano del Sud discussed several important topics of his experience as AC Milan’s sports director, from his relationship with CEO Marco Fassone to his dream of returning in the Champions League.

First of all, he talked about how he met Marco Fassone, Milan’s CEO: “I met him while at the Inter. There i came by the request of Piero Ausilio. My role was chief scout, but immediately, i had a wonderful human relationship with Fassone, who at Inter served as general manager. I consulted with him every day, long phone calls about promising players and much more. Then when he left Inter, he told me one thing: where i go you will come with me. So it was. I can add that working with him is a pleasure because for me he is not human but a real extraterrestrial.

But the new rossoneri’s executive also found the time to say his side of the story regarding Mino Raiola, whom he faced during the difficult negotiations for the contract renewal of Gianluigi Donnarumma and with which the tensions reached the highest levels: “From a giant of the transfer market, with that phrase Raiola, become a small man to me. Debuting with the Donnarumma operation has not been easy, but we emerged as winners.

Mirabelli also spoke of another young talent who, in addition to Donnarumma, is exhibiting his best qualities. That is Patrick Cutrone, an authentic revelation at the start of this season: “He was part of AC Milan’s youth sector but he was a 19 year old with the contract about to expire, then we saw him in the training sessions and honestly the guy has great skills and can really do good. We believe in him, as we believe in many other young players who already are in the first team. Moreover Montella as a wonderful relationship with them. We are on the right track but there is still much work to be done.

The rossoneri’s project is at an advanced stage and we have important ambitions. AC Milan’s sports director did not hide his dream: “To gift Milan fans the Champions League music soon. This is now my biggest dream.”
