AC Milan will face Atletico Madrid at San Siro in the second round of Champions League group B tonight.
In the second round of the Champions League group stage AC Milan will be hosting Atletico Madrid at San Siro. AC Milan vs Atletico Madrid puts both clubs in need of points after the disappointing respective debuts against Liverpool and Porto.
Thankfully coach Stefano Pioli will have at his disposal the majority of his usual starting eleven for Milan vs Atletico Madrid. Good news for the Rossoneri who are in desperate need of making points against the Spaniard so progress to the next stage may not become an utopia.
In defence, Simon Kjaer has fully recovered and will form the central duo alongside Fikayo Tomori. Romagnoli returns on the bench. Theo Hernandez will play on the left while captain Davide Calabria returns to play from the first minute on the right. Mike Maignan will be tasked to protect the goal against a firesome opponent.
In midfield, Sando Tonali has become an untouchable player in the starting eleven. The name of his partner puts Pioli in difficulty. Both Kessie and Bennacer are far from their best form. However, the Ivorian central midfielder is in advantage to partner with Tonali.
In attack Pioli looks to have solved his biggest dilemma. The Italian coach has decided to rely on in-form Ante Rebic with Olivier Giroud set to play in the second half. Brahim Diz will be in support of the Croatian striker with Alexis Saelemaekers on the right and Rafael Leao on the left.
AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo; Tonali, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao; Rebic.
ATLETICO MADRID (3-5-2): Oblak, Gimnez, Felipe, Hermoso, Trippier, Llorente, Koke, De Paul, Carrasco, Felix, Suarez.
