Milan-Udinese, probable lineups

AC Milan-Udinese

AC Milan-Udinese

For the first time this season coach Gattuso will deploy a brand new formation for AC Milan-Udinese with two strikers up front and Lucas Paqueta as attacking midfielder.

AC Milan must turn the page immediately. Fortunately, last week’s results (both Roma and Inter lost) offer the Rossoneri the possibility to redeem themselves with a win tonight. At 19:00 CET AC Milan host Udinese at San Siro.

Gennaro Gattuso is practically forced to change something. His 4-3-3 formation no longer delivers due to the poor performance of some key players. Above all Suso, a target of criticism from the fans. The Spanish winger has failed to score or assists lately and is less dangerous in the opponents area.

For the coach Suso is still a very important player but there is the possibility that tonight he sits on the bench. According to Sky Sport, Gennaro Gattuso has two options in his mind for Milan-Udinese. And the most likely alternative does not include the use of the former Liverpool.

Gattuso will switch to 4-3-1-2 and that’s mostly because of Andrea Conti’s injury. The Italian defender was not called up for tonight’s Milan-Udinese, complicating Rino’s plans. If he would be available the Rossoneri would use 4-2-3-1 lineup.

It’s Suso who will be sacrificed tonight. Lucas Paqueta will play as attacking midfielder behind the two strikers, Patrick Cutrone and Krzysztof Piatek. Hakan Calhanoglu will play as inside left in midfield, with Franck Kessie returning on the right and Tiemoue Bakayoko back in the middle. No changes in defence with Calabria, Musacchio, Romagnoli and Ricardo Rodriguez completing the department.

AC MILAN (4-3-1-2): Donnarumma; Calabria, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Rodriguez; Kessie, Bakayoko, Calhanoglu; Paqueta; Piatek, Cutrone.

UDINESE (4-3-3):  Musso; ter Avest, Opoku, De Maio, Zeegelaar; Fofana,  Behrami, Mandragora; Pussetto, Lasagna, De Paul.
