AC Milan ask the second most expensive summer signing to leave
AC Milan are ready to part ways with their defender despite him joining the Rossoneri club only six months ago.
AC Milan invested slightly over 70 million euros during the summer transfer window to sign permanently five players while Tammy Abraham joined on loan from Roma. Among all the summer singings only Youssouf Fofana can ben considered a success during these first six months. Other names like Pavlovic, Emerson, Morata, Jimenez and Abraham have showcases their talent only on rare occasions as demonstrated by the Rossoneri’s obvious struggles in Serie A.
AC Milan spent €20 million, bonuses included to sign Strahinja Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg. There was general excitement around Pavlovic at the beginning of his AC Milan adventure. The management and the coaching staff believed the Serbian centre back would inject some much needed physicality and aggressively to a team that has continuously struggled in defense.
Pavlovic started the season as a first choice for then coach Paulo Fonseca but quickly fell down the pecking order. The Serbian defender lost his regular starting spot in late November and hasn’t made a single Serie A appearance in the last month and a half. Neither did he participated in any of the two Super Cup matches. AC Milan are ready to cut their loses with Pavlovic according to Gazzetta dello Sport and have informed the player that he is available on the market despite joining the Italian club only six months ago.
The arrival of Sergio Conceicao has only weakened Pavlovic’s position. Until recently, it was Fikayo Tomori who was supposed to leave in January but the new Portuguese coach vetoed his exit. Tomori has now become a regular starter at the heart of the defense alongside Malick Thiaw while Strahinja Pavlovic is the fourth choice behind Matteo Gabbia.
Ironically, there is a real chance that Pavlovic might end up joining Kalulu at Juventus, the same player he was brought at replace at Milan. Having accepted defeat in the pursuit for Tomori and Barcelona’s Araujo, Juventus have turned their attention to the Serbian centre back who is considered a much more realistic option. AC Milan are ready to listen to offers even on loan reports Gazzetta dello Sport.
