Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s price tag has halved

AC Milan made a staggering bid for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic last summer offering Lazio 120 million euros. Now the Serbian is available for much, much less.

When Elliot took control of AC Milan last summer they had only 20 days to move on the market. Despite the limited time sporting director Leonardo concluded several purchases but he was also very close to signing one of the best talents in Italy, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The Rossoneri in fact were willing to make the 24 year old central midfielder the most expensive signing in the history of the club. According to reports, AC Milan offered Lazio 120 million euros (40 million loan plus 80 for the permanent signing) for Milinkovic-Savic but president Lotito refused due to the inability to find a proper substitute in the last days of the summer transfer window.

However, in just a few months, the situation has changed dramatically. The performances of Milinkovic-Savic have suffered a sharp decline and so has his market value. Il Corriere della Sera reports that for 60 million euros the Serbian can be allowed to leave.

The Lazio midfielder remains a target of AC Milan. If Champions League qualification is achieved at the end of the season the club would not have problems spending. Leonardo is determined to straighten Milan in the summer and build a team that can challenge Juventus for the tittle soon. This time Milan must battle with Juventus and Inter for the services of Sergej.
