AC Milan convinced to make €30m first summer signing
At the end of the season AC Milan will sign Fikayo Tomori on a permanent transfer. The English defender has been a revelation at San Siro.
In London, the Blues fans immediately expressed their anger when Tomori’s transfer to AC Milan was just a mercato rumor. Chelsea made a great resistance regarding the inclusion of the option to buy in AC Milan’s favor (later added thanks to Maldini and Massara’s great work), and perhaps now we begin to understand why.
Frank Lampard had raised him during his time as coach of Derby County and has always spent nice words for Fikayo. Even at Chelsea, Tomori had several occasions to show his talent and was slowly starting to fulfill his potential. The arrival of a master of the role like Thiago Silva slowed down his growth giving Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara a golden opportunity to bring at San Siro one of the best talents of English football.
The impact of Fikayo Tomori at AC Milan has been immediate. He made his debut in the Coppa Italia against Inter nullifying the danger of Romelu Lukaku, one of the most in-form strikers in Europe. It was just a sign of what was to come.
The 23-year-old centre back is now a regular starter alongside Simon Kjaer. Few could have expected in January that Tomori would take Alessio Romagnoli’s spot and even push the captain towards the exit. Now the Rossoneri are ready to sign the Chelsea defender on a permanent transfer.
Paolo Maldini is fully convinced that Fikayo Tomori is the perfect defender for AC Milan and will spend nearly €30 million for his purchase. Despite Chelsea’s willingness to take the English defender back, Tomori will stay at San Siro with Elliot happy to spend a big figure for his services.
