With PSV Eindhoven unlikely to sign Ricardo Rodriguez, the AC Milan defender will return to Italy but to join Roma instead.
At the end of the season Ricardo Rodriguez will return to Milan. PSV Eindhoven will not sign the Swiss left-back on a permanent transfer. The economic crisis due to the Coronavirus emergency has complicated the plans of many clubs and the Dutch, although they have appreciated the performances of the former Wolfsburg, have decided against his purchase.
Nevertheless, with his contract expiring in one year, the future of Rodriguez will be away from Milan. The player wants regular game time, he intend to play as protagonist in the upcoming European championship, and with Theo Hernandez in the squad it is somewhat complicated.
His definitive farewell to the Rossoneri is therefore is guaranteed. Roma are the latest club to express interest in the AC Milan left back. The Giallorossi have to deal with Kolarov’s declining age and would like to focus on the reliability of the Swiss defender. Roma, however, have a squad with too many right backs and many of these are redundant like Alessandro Florenzi.
The Italian is currently on loan at Valencia but once the season is over he is unlikely to stay at Roma for long. A swap between Florenzi and Ricardo Rodriguez could certainly bring benefits to both teams.
AC Milan would have a new right back that can play as winger and also serve as Samu Castillejo’s back-up while Roma a valid replacement for Kolarov.
