Milan prepares for the derby: Re-launch with 4 moves

Vincenzo Montella

The derby against Inter is one of the most important games of the year. A positive result would change the course of the season for Milan.

Paradoxically AC Milan, in order to rebound from the strange situation in the league in which the team suffered two defeats with Sampdoria and Roma, will have to restart from those who have disappointed the most.

The idea of the rossoneri, in particular of Mister Vincenzo Montella, would be to rely a lot on the pivotal players most in difficulty, facilitating their fieldwork and asking for something different. That is why, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, the coach would be preparing the assault on Inter in next Sunday’s derby with 4 strategic moves: the re-launch of so many key elements for his game system.

Leonardo Bonucci

First of all, a great performance from Leonardo Bonucci is expected. Montella wants to give more protection to the new captain of Milan, without leaving him alone in the midst of a defense of three too wide and distant. In this way, the former Juventus centre back would also be able to play the ball more easily and try his proverbial 50 meters passes. Same thing with Lucas Biglia: the Argentine midfielder needs more freedom of action and also to try shots from outside the box, until now he has always been intimidated by being in a sort of midfield limbo without attempting the screamer.

Suso, Bonaventura, Montella

Two other fundamental moves by Montella mark the return, almost dictated by Silvio Berlusconi’s words, of two veterans like Giacomo Bonaventura and Jesus Suso. The first will return to play as left central midfielder and thanks to his dynamic moves will help Milan change formation depending on the situation, moving from the 3-5-2 to 4-3-3 while in ball possession for example. The Spaniard, instead, needs confidence after obvious problems in a new role. He will be re-proposed as second-striker, hoping to have understood certain moves. But for Suso, Inter evokes good memories, like the double scored in last year’s derby.
