For the past year AC Milan have been monitoring the situation of Cagliari star Nicolo Barella and the performances of the young midfielder have been simply superb.
The first transfer derby this season between AC Milan and Inter is going to be that for Nicolo Barella. According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the two Milanese clubs aim to bring the 21 year old central midfielder at San Siro. However dealing with Cagliari is not going to be that easy.
In fact Cagliari president is demanding a fee of 40 million euros for the highly-rated Italy U-21. The Sardinia club don’t want to make any discounts and considering his performances interest is going to remain high despite the salty price-tag. Last season Barella scored 6 goals in 34 Serie A appearances while this year he scored the only goal in Cagliari’s away win over Atalanta.
The Rossoneri consider Barella as an alternative to both Giacomo Bonaventura and Lucas Biglia. The talented midfielder started his career as attacking midfielder before settling down a bit more behind. He can also act as defensive midfielder if necessary. A complete player like the 21 year old could be a great investment for the present and also for the future.
AC Milan need to sign a new Voluntary Agreement with UEFA before green-lighting a move. Technical director Leonardo intends to offer no more than 20 million euros for Barella, plus 2 players in exchange. Cristian Zapata could move in the opposite direction plus a player to be chosen by Cagliari.
