No revolution: Mirabelli’s plan for the summer

Unlike last summer AC Milan have no intention of making many purchases but rather concentrate on 3 top players that can improve the squad.

As confirmed by Gennaro Gattuso, fresh from his renewal, in press conference yesterday, AC Milan will start next season relying on the solid base built this year, with a young and enthusiastic coach but above all a squad that, at least for the regular starters, satisfies considerably the technical demands of coach Rino. There is something left to improve but it will not be possible to speak of technical revolution in the summer.

According to Corriere della Sera, the plan of sports director Massimiliano Mirabelli can be summarized in two words: experience and personality. These are the two main characteristics that AC Milan will look for on the transfer market opening in a few months, especially in midfield and in attack. The defense is practically settled, with the recent signings of Pepe Reina and Ivan Strinic, two experienced and reliable players who will make the Rossoneri bench even more competitive and wide.

In comparison to last year, therefore, Mirabelli will probably be less active, given that in the summer of 2017 there were 11 official purchases completed. Considering the good performance with Gattuso and the inability, for financial reasons, to make five-star hits, AC Milan will focus on 2-3 expensive purchases able to lift up the technical level of the team. Urgent a couple of reinforcements in midfield and at least a winger that can alternate with Suso and Calhanoglu. Also much will depend on possible big name sales even if Mirabelli’s will is to keep all the best players.
