Plizzari & Donnarumma

Plizzari & Donnarumma

AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma will sign a new 5 year contract but his brother Antonio and Pepe Reina will leave at the end of the season.

Gianluigi Donnarumma will renew his contract with AC Milan. Two years after the long soap opera that reached maximum voltage peaks in Casa Milan, the young shot stopper is now ready to sign a contract extension but with a decidedly more serene context.

With his current contract set to expire in 2021 Donnarumma will pen a new 5 year agreement. Il Corriere dello Sport confirms the news after contacts with his agent Mino Raiola. Everything will happen at the end of the season but before the summer transfer window opens.

However Gigio’s renewal will have consequences for his colleagues. His commitment for more years at San Siro means that the farewell of the 36-year-old goalkeeper Pepe Reina and his older brother Antonio Donnarumma will follow. Both, in fact, at the end of the season they will leave to find new clubs and the entire hierarchy between the posts will have to be redrawn.

AC Milan will probably choose a quality goalkeeper to act as the deputy of Donnarumma junior with youngster Alessandro Plizzari destined to play a much more important role in the future. The management wants to enhance the 19 year old talent. Starting from next season we will finally see him represent the Rossoneri first team perhaps in Cup matches.

When Milan brought in Pepe Reina from Napoli, it was because the future of Donnarumma was unclear. Fortunately now everything has changed thanks to Gennaro Gattuso. Because Rino, emphasizes CorSport, has been fundamental in the definitive growth of the Gigio. Gattuso has supported Donnarumma even when criticism towards him was extreme due to some mistakes. According to reports he will also earn one million more, 7 million euros per season.
