Summer priority: avoiding another Crespo-like situation

In the summer AC Milan will try to make Tiemoue Bakayoko’s stay at San Siro permanent thus avoiding another Crespo-like situation.

The need to confirm Tiemoue Bakayoko was certified by the words of Rino Gattuso on the eve of Roma-Milan. The Frenchman, a few days ago, confirmed his desire to remain at Milan, but between these two matching feelings and the reality of the facts there is Chelsea, the legitimate owner of the player. AC Milan signed Bakayoko on loan for 5 million euros and have the right to make the move permanent for an additional 35 million. A very big fee but there are margins for negotiations.

AC Milan are keeping in touch with the Italian intermediary Federico Pastorello who oversaw the operation, with whom the talks will be intensified in the coming weeks to open the channel with Chelsea again and understand the last price of the English club. Milan are counting a lot on the revaluation of the player, who after a disastrous start has become a pillar of the team and also one of the best midfielders in Italy. The goal is to keep Bakayoko finding a fair price that will satisfy everyone, with the player who should then significantly reduce his salary of 7 million euros per season he earned at Chelsea.

Milan, in the past, has already had a situation similar to that of Bakayoko, namely that relating to Hernan Crespo. The Argentine striker, just like the Frenchman, had a difficult start to the season, struggling to find the goal. Then everything changed after a Coppa Italia match against Palermo. That was the spark that changed his season in 2004-05 and Crespo became an untouchable starter in the second part of the year.

At the time, despite the will of Crespo, Milan failed to find an agreement with Chelsea on a permanent transfer and the Rossoneri purchased Gilardino instead. This time, however, the final will have to be different. According to reports Chelsea will offer Milan a discount on Bakayoko as a gratitude sign for allowing Higuain to join the Blues.
