New coach: 3 names to succeed Pioli

With Ralf Rangnick having doubts on the Rossoneri’s offer, AC Milan are looking at three other names to succeed Stefano Pioli.

While Ralf Rangnick is experiencing doubts whether to accept Milan, the Rossoneri are evaluating other options. Hendrik Almstadt and Geoffrey Moncada, new points of reference for Ivan Gazidis, are in fact looking at other names should the German coach ultimately opt to reject Milan.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the permanence of Stefano Pioli is to be excluded with Gazidis not confident in him. Despite the good work and objective steps forward from Milan since Pioli took charge, only an exceptional end of the season could convince the club to continue with him.

In all probability, the new coach of AC Milan will not be Italian with Marcelino Garcia and Unai Emery the two names high on Gazidis list. According to Mundo Deportivo, AC Milan and Marcelino held preliminary talks in February while former Arsenal coach Unai Emery is the new candidate.

If rumors were to be confirmed, it would be the first coaching experience of Marcelino outside Spain where he has led clubs like Valencia, Villarreal, Sevilla, Racing, Zaragoza, Recreativo and Sporting. Last season Marcelino guided Valencia to Copa del Rey glory after defeating Barcelona 2–1 in the final. He left Valencia at the beginning of the season after continuous disagreements with Valencia owner Peter Lim.

The third options remains Luciano Spalletti. Spalletti was in fact the first choice of Zvonimir Boban and Paolo Maldini to replace Marco Giampaolo in October but everything failed because of his contract with Inter. A revamped attempt can not be excluded reports CorSport.
