Mandzukic’s true contract clause revealed

Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic has had a disappointing spell with AC Milan so far. He has made just 5 appearances without scoring.

In Milan’s plans, Mario Mandzukic was supposed to be the extra man for the second half of the season. A player of great experience, personality and winning mentality that could give a helping hand to the Rossoneri in attack.

However, Mario is feeling the previous six months of inactivity. The Croatian striker had to stop twice due to muscle problems and his presence for the upcoming Serie A match against Sampdoria is in doubt.

Mandzukic has made just 5 substitute appearances so far for a mere total of 158 minutes played. The former Juventus star has yet to find the back of the net with the Red and Blacks. A big problem for the Rossoneri who had high hopes for him.

The 34-year-old Croatian center forward has signed a six-months contract until June. AC Milan have a renewal option in case of qualification for the next Champions League, not obligation. According to the initial reports on Mandzukic’s clause, it was supposed to be an automatic renewal if Milan reached the top four but Calciomercato reveals otherwise.

AC Milan are free to end their collaboration with Mandzukic at the end of the season if Mario’s form doesn’t improve. He has only ten matches in his disposal to convince Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara but the situation does not looking promising. The important thing is that AC Milan’s mercato plans will not be blocked by Mandzukic’s contract.
