AC Milan were stunned after youngster Manuel Locatelli accepted Genoa loan offer putting the club in a difficult position.

Manuel Locatelli should not leave Milanello in this January winter session. The player reportedly accepted a loan move away from San Siro in order to find more room but the Rossoneri club does not seem inclined to let him go.

This morning news emerged that Locatelli had said yes to Genoa transfer. The 20 year old defensive midfielder wants to play and in Rossoblu he would have had more opportunities. Genoa proposed a loan-only move, which therefore would not have compromised the boy’s future at AC Milan. The final decision was in the hands of Massimiliano Mirabelli and Marco Fassone, who had to decide whether to accept or not.

According to the latest news on the matter by PrimoCanale, the transfer of Locatelli to Genoa is definitely off with the Rossoneri club rejecting the proposal. The young Rossoneri talent will remain in the squad of Gennaro Gattuso. Allowing Manuel to go would have meant having to look for another midfielder, but in Via Aldo Rossi they do not seem inclined to make any operations this January. Fassone and Mirabelli have said repeatedly that no purchases are planned for January.

For Locatelli all that remains new is to work hard and hope that coach Gattuso will give him more space. At the moment Lucas Biglia and Riccardo Montolivo stand before him in the hierarchy for the role of regista. The 20 year old can also be used as a central midfielder, but there, Franck Kessie and Giacomo Bonaventura are considered as fixed starers.
