AC Milan will make important signings in January to improve the squad but same players must be sold to finance the winter campaign.

After investing €80 million to sign new players during the summer transfer window AC Milan expected to improve their 5th place of last season. Or at least to stay around the same area. However, after 12 rounds of Serie A, AC Milan finds itself in 14th spot with just 12 points.

In such a situation there is no other option for the club than to intervene on the market. The Rossoneri need to make quality signings in January that can guide a young and inexperienced squad like Milan.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ivan Rakitic have been linked with AC Milan but before the Rossoneri start thinking seriously about signings they first must make sales. And the first player to leave in January it’s going to be Franck Kessie.

Milan paid €32 million to sign Kessie from Atalanta in 2017. The 22-year-old Ivorian midfielder has made 106 appearances with the Rossoneri, scoring 6 goals, but his performances have never been convincing enough to justify the hefty price tag.

Furthermore, Milan coaches, from Gattuso to Pioli, have had problems with his attitude and commitment. Paolo Maldini too agrees that Kessie’s time at San Siro has come to an end and will sacrifice Franck in order to finance the January signings. Roma and Napoli in Italy, and especially Wolverhampton in England, are interested in the former Atalanta midfielder.
